Unfortunately, they also damage other types of plants, so it is best to apply them directly to weeds so as to avoid contact with your plants.

Organic herbicides, on the other hand, are made of natural weed killer substances such as herbs, oils, aromatics and minerals which work much the same way as chemical herbicides. They are a great choice in vegetable gardens, for all-natural lawn care and in any other situation where you're concerned about chemical exposure. Their effectiveness varies, depending on the specific ingredients they use and the types of weeds you wish to target. Read the directions on the packaging closely to find out which type of organic herbicide is right for your garden.

Using Cultural Methods

Garden experts call non-herbicidal, physical or preventative means of eradicating weeds "cultural methods". Enriching your garden, lawn or other plants using fertilizers, compost and soil conditioners is perhaps the simplest cultural method of weed prevention. It involves improving the health of your plants in order to make them strong enough to fight off weeds without any further interventions.
